WBGF is a 501-c-3, not for profit organization. All donations are 100% tax deductible.
The festival was started in 2005. June 8-9-10, 2012 will be the 8th annual summer festival.
The festival received grants for the past 2 years from the Indiana Arts Commission and the National Endowment for the Arts, a federally funded agency.
The mission is to preserve and promote authentic and traditional American bluegrass music.
Anticipated attendance for June 2012:
- Friday 3:30 – 5:30 PM: Mountain Dulcimer workshop
- Friday evening: 150
- Saturday : 500
- Sunday: 125
Schedule of events:
- Friday afternoon education session: Limited to 40 (open to all ages, reservation needed)
- Friday 6:00-10:00 PM: FREE open bluegrass jam
- Saturday 10:00 AM – 10:00 PM: Stage Show, admission fee (6 bands, each 2, 55 minute sets)
- Sunday 10:00AM – 12:00 noon: FREE Bluegrass Gospel Service
Tickets for the Saturday stage show are $12 in advance and $15 at the gate. Admission is free for Veterans with military ID and children 12 and under. All veterans are invited to the front to be recognized and thanked by the WBGF President mid-afternoon
Primitive camping is available.
Food and Beverage vendors, licensed and inspected by Elkhart County are on site Friday and Saturday. All vendors are charged a nominal fee to cover needed utilities
FCDC volunteers manage the entrance gate and collect/ sell tickets and assist in parking.
WBGF has a professionally-developed and maintained website with pictures from past festivals. Events are listed on approximately 25 internet web sites relating to bluegrass and/ or festivals. |
